NORTH CENTRAL 1/30/2014—In a Buckeye Border Conference matchup, the Hilltop Lady Cadets defeated the Lady Eagles of North Central by a score of 58-32.

Hilltop was able to get an edge over North Central early on in the contest, as the Cadets jumped out to a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles were able to keep within striking distance, not letting Hilltop pull away quite yet.

The Cadet lead would expand in the second quarter, with Hilltop outscoring North Central 11-6 in the period. As the halftime buzzer sounded, Hilltop controlled a 21-13 lead.

The third quarter is when almost all doubt would be eliminated. Even though Hilltop only shot 32 percent from the field in the contest, the Cadets would control the glass, out-rebounding North Central by a huge 37-19 margin. The extra possessions that the Cadets were able to bring down would help them to go on to outscore North Central 19-4 in the third quarter, and move to a 40-17 lead at the end of the third quarter of action.

Although the Eagles offense would be able to score 15 points in the fourth and final quarter, the Cadet lead would grow once again, with Hilltop putting up 18 more points on the scoreboard, sealing a 58-32 win.

For North Central, Litzenberg lead the way with eight points, Ryan was next with seven, Hayes contributed six, Oxender scored four, Swank put three on the board, and Pickford and Rhinard both scored two,

Funkhouser lead the Cadet cause with 16 on the night. She was followed by Creamer with 12, Bleikamp with 10, Denton and Armbruster both scored eight, and Grant rounded out the scoring with four.
