LaVon A. Reas, age 96, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 4:56 A.M. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, surrounded by his family. Mr. Reas was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theater during World War II as a heavy equipment truck driver.

He was employed by Transport Motors in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for more than forty years, retiring in 1980. He then began working at SDI as a security guard for a number of years. LaVon was a member of the Teamsters and enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle well into his 80s, after which he could be found on his moped for many more years.

LaVon A. Reas was born on May 19, 1925, in Edgerton, the son of Arthur and Audrey (Skelton) Reas. He married Phyllis Mae Beard on October 4, 1947, in Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2009.

Survivors include one son, Keith “Ike” (Beth) Reas, of Butler, Indiana; two daughters, Jeanette (Don Sproles) Reas, of Edgerton, and Carolyn Myers, of Kendallville, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Rosanne Reas, of Hesperia, Michigan; and special friend and companion, Lovie Nester.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Richard “Jake” Reas, and one great-grandson, Colton Reas.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Grave side services will follow at 1:30 P.M. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion John D. Smith Post #10 and the United States Army Honor Guard.

Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, the family will receive friends while observing social distancing precautions. The family requests visitors use masks in accordance with state mandates. Anyone showing any symptoms of illness is asked to please share condolences by a phone call, email, text message, or leaving a condolence at the funeral home website.

Memorials are requested to RAW (Returning American Warriors) 4734 County Road 20.50, Stryker, Ohio 43557.
