Lenawee County authorities are investigating a shooting which occurred March 3 just across the state line in Michigan.
According to a press release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, a report of a shooting came through around 9:46 p.m. The report stated several people were in a vehicle heading south on Munson Highway in Medina Township, when the vehicle stopped at Morenci Road, a large SUV-type vehicle pulled up alongside and someone fired a gunshot into the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.
A passenger was struck in the lower arm. The driver of the victim’s vehicle fled west on Moerenci Road toward U.S. 127. The suspect vehicle followed the victim’s vehicle for ½ mile before turning around toward Morenci.
The victims were in contact with Lenawee County Central Dispatch and were instructed to continue to U.S. 127 where they were to meet with a Hillsdale County Sheriff’s deputy and personnel from the Wright Waldron Fire Department.
The fire department transported the shooting victim to a hospital in Jackson, Mich., and treated for a non-life threatening injury.
The incident remains under investigation.
