CHWC-Montpelier Hospital Auxiliary held its annual Christmas Luncheon Monday, Dec. 10th at First United Methodist Church at 12 noon. Instead of having a Christmas gift exchange, members donated non-perishable food items for two local food pantries—See & Do Club and Helping Hands. Pictured with pantry items are auxiliary officers from left to right, Barb Dietsch, treasurer; Deanna Gipe, president; and Jean Young, secretary. Tables were decorated with greenery, red and gold bells, red apples and candy canes, and Smith’s Restaurant of Wauseon catered the meal. Program committee members including Armeda Sawmiller, Deanna Gipe, Ruth Smethurst and Joyce Schelling presented readings from a Helen Steiner Rice Christmas book, concluding with a poem entitled “Why Do Bells On Christmas Ring?”, read by Armeda and written by her grandmother. Roll call was answered to “Who has been an angel to you and why?”. Hospital patient favors were delivered by Joyce Schelling. The next meeting of the auxiliary will be Monday, Jan. 14th at 1 p.m. at the Montpelier Public Library with John Widmer, operations manager of See & Do Club, as guest speaker.
