She belonged to the Alumni of Riverside Hospital School of Nursing and was the current recording secretary of the group. Nancy enjoyed spending time at lunch with a group of friends that called themselves the “hot chicks from 66.”

Nancy enjoyed taking dancing lessons and participating in competitions at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. On November 15, 1986, she married James “Jim” Barnes. If there was ever a perfect love story, it was Jim and Nancy Barnes.

Surviving Nancy is her cat, Blackjack (who was her baby); sister, Denise (Dean) Galbraith; Chrislyn (Michael Shelhart; two step-sons, Eric (Jenni) Barnes and Brian (Emily) Barnes; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill (Marie) Dewey; and nephew, Will Figy.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the church, at 11am, with Pastor Michael Doerr officiating. Burial will follow at the Wauseon Union Cemetery.
