Louis Cecil Goebel, age 80, of Stryker, passed away on June 11, 2023 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
Louis was born on December 15, 1942, at home in Bryan. Louis was the son of Elmer Ralph and Teresa Grace (Lambert) Goebel.
Louis graduated from Stryker High School in 1961. He joined the United States Army right out of high school and was stationed in France.
Upon returning home, he worked for Jim Newman and Mansion Mobile Homes. He later joined Marvin Shade Construction.
He later moved to Lake Seneca, Montpelier, and became the head of maintenance for Lake Seneca. Later, he worked for Fab Glass in Angola, IN, eventually retiring to a farm in Stryker.
Louis married Patricia A. Metzger on May 18, 1974 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan. Louis and Patricia recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. Louis was an avid golfer and fisherman.
Louis is survived by wife, Patricia; step-children, Maria (Chris) Baumgartner of Louisville, KY, Katherine Metzger of Ohio, William Metzger of Stryker, and Michael Metzger of LaGrange IN; step-grandchildren, Angelica (Lucas) Lowmaster, Madeline Baumgartner, and Anthony Spangler; step-great-granddaughter, Lydia Denice Lowmaster; and siblings, James (Janet) Goebel and Joyce Laub. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Louis will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker from 10am to 12pm. A funeral service will take place at 12pm, with Celebrant Adam Grisier officiating. Burial will follow at the Shiffler Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
