Luella Weller (1929-2022)

Luella E. Weller, 92, of Ney, Ohio, peacefully passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at Defiance Care & Rehabilitation Center, Defiance, Ohio.

Luella was born July 21, 1929, in Bryan, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold and Christean (Grine) Dietrich. She was a 1947 graduate of Ney High School.

Luella married John W. Weller, Sr., on May 5, 1950, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2015.

She worked as a clerical worker for the ARO Corporation. Luella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan, where she assisted with Vacation Bible School.


Luella enjoyed tending her flower gardens and spending time with her family

Luella is survived by her three children, John (Sharon) Weller, Jr. of Ney, Ohio, Susan (Lloyd) Crites-Bryant of Edgerton, Ohio, and Christine (Jim) Mackie of Bryan, Ohio; five grandchildren, David Weller, Sarah Crites, Melissa (Chuck) Williams, MacKenzie Mackie, and Nicholas Mackie; five great-grandchildren, David Weller, Jr., Brantley Williams, Cooper Williams, Cora Williams, and Audrey Williams; one brother, Forrest (Madalyn) Dietrich of Ney, Ohio; and one sister, Nancy Dwyer of Littleton, Colorado.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and brother, Richard Dietrich.


Visitation for Luella E. Weller will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 4;00 – 7:00 p.m.in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services for Luella will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 509 Center Street, Bryan, with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ney, Ohio.

Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude children’s Hospital.
