The Madison Township Trustees held their regular meeting on Monday, February 23 at the township office.

Trustees present were Terry Huffman, Mark Schmucker, and Jen Zuver. Also in attendance were Fiscal Officer Debra Maneval, Tony Carpenter, Austin Douglass, Jason Marvin, Tyler Bryner and Dan Van Arsdalen.

Van Arsdalen asked the trustees about getting new street signs for Kunkle. He pointed out the county has replaced its road signs, and the new ones look pretty good.

Huffman responded to Van Arsdalen’s question, saying the township would have to wait until the sign grant program is available and could look at replacing them at that time.

Van Arsdalen then gave the trustees a list of signs needed along with street names in Kunkle. A total of ten signs would be needed.

Van Arsdalen also asked the trustees about getting a salt spreader for the township’s one-ton truck. He said some of the streets in Kunkle had become slippery.

“We will not be getting anything new for our current truck since we are going to replace it,” said Huffman.

In other business, Carpenter received calls from the Williams County Sheriff’s Department and Holiday City Village Administrator Blair Campbell regarding the maintenance of Traxler Drive.

The Sheriff’s Department believed the township had been plowing and salting Traxler Drive. Carpenter did help when drifting snow closed the road, but the township maintained that it does not service Traxler Drive.

Madison Township-Kunkle Fire Chief Jason Marvin reported the fire department had received an Ohio State Fire Marshal Grant of $30,000.

He also requested a purchase order for a deck to be installed on the department’s slide-out equipment drawer.

The fire department also conducted an extrication training session last week, which Marvin said went very well. The next trustees meeting will be on Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m.
