Madison Township Trustees met in regular session on Monday, Aug. 10, with trustees Terry Huffman, Mark Schmucker and Jen Zuver present.
Also, Fiscal Officer Debra Maneval, Madison Township/Kunkle Fire Chief Jason Marvin, Tyler Bryner and Austin Douglass were in attendance.
Following the approval of the July 17 meeting minutes and the payment of bills, trustees heard a presentation from Tam Stage of the Williams County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Stage discussed the Clean Ohio grant with trustees the Soil and Water Conservation District is applying for and how it would benefit the township.
She stated that an owner of 50 acres of land wants to preserve the natural habitat and open it to the public.
If awarded, the grant would pay the owner one-half of the property’s value. The owner would then donate the money back for maintenance on the land.
Planned features include nature trails, places to walk, and nature talks. The Soil and Water Conservation is seeking support in the form of a resolution from the township supporting the project.
The trustees will discuss this matter further and make a decision at their next meeting. Township resident Raymond Stark addressed the trustees regarding County Road 0.30. Stark said the new property owner has placed a gate at the end of the road, making it impassable.
Huffman noted he had already spoken with the county, explaining that the county maintains the road, and the township has no jurisdiction over the situation.
Fire Chief Jason Marvin reported the Williams County First Responder vehicle is now housed in Kunkle.
He submitted an invoice for reimbursement from Tri-County Repair for brake repairs on Engine No. 52.
Marvin also noted that one of the fire engines has a broken valve and is checking with a couple of places to have it repaired.
With no further business, Schmucker made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Next meeting will be Monday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m.
