March 29th Spring Sports Roundup

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Hilltop 10 Edgerton 0 (6 inn.)

Sara Barnum had two singles and three RBIs to pace Hilltop (2-1) to a 10-0 win over Edgerton. Americus Maddox had two hits also for the Cadets, including a solo home run in the fifth inning. Kodi Brenner was dominant in the circle as she allowed just three hits by Edgerton (2-1) and struck out nine in six innings. Rylei Moreno, Noelle Ritter, and Grace Schroeder each had a single for Edgerton.

Wauseon 31 Stryker 0 (5 inn.)

Payton Albright went deep three times as the Lady Indians (2-0) connected for eight homers on the night in a rout of Stryker. Albright finished the game 5-5 at the plate with seven RBIs. Macee Schang threw four innings of one-hit softball and tallied 11 strikeouts.


Archbold 3 Liberty-Benton 1

Archbold plated single runs in the second, fifth, and sixth innings to get by Liberty-Benton in the Lady Streaks season opener. Rightfielder Ella Bowman led the Archbold offense by going 1-2 with two RBIs.

Bryan 3 Fairview 1


Addie Arnold fired a complete game for Bryan with eight strikeouts as Bryan (2-0) snuck by Fairview in a non-league matchup. Senior Bre Long and freshman Ella Voight were both 1-2 with a single and Long added three stolen bases.

Lake 3 Delta 0

Reagan Rouleau and Kiersten Culler each singled for the Lady Panthers in a season opening loss to Lake 3-0.

North Central 6 Hicksville 4


North Central jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings and were able to hold on to knock off the Lady Aces. Emma Fielder went 3-4 with double and Kendee Hollstein went 1-3 and knocked in two runs with her second inning single.

Swanton d. Montpelier 8-4

Fairview d. Bryan 9-5

VARSITY BASEBALL

Evergreen 13 Swanton 1

Evergreen scored in every inning, including six runs in the third, in a 13-1 win over in non-league game with Swanton. RJ Shunck led the Vikings bats with a 1-3 effort and three RBIs while Payton Boucher also added a single and three runs batted in. Blake Szalapski provided the Bulldogs scoring with an RBI double in the second inning.

Montpelier 11 Holgate 3

Montpelier was aided by 10 walks from Holgate pitching and eight errors by the Tigers defense as they rolled to an 11-3 win. Colin Crisenberry, who got the win on the mound, went 3-4 with a double and Tylor Yahraus was 2-5 and had three RBIs.

Ayersville 14 Hilltop 4

Abe Delano smacked a three-run shot in the first inning to help Ayersville jump to a 4-0 lead on their way to a 14-4 victory. Connor Schlosser, Chase Whitman, Thomas McCoy each had two hits for Hilltop.

Archbold 12 Edgerton 7

Five different Bluestreaks had two hits apiece as Archbold (3-0) posted eight runs in the second inning to pull away for the win. Jayden Seiler tossed three innings to get the win for Archbold who also had four players with one RBI each. Edgerton (0-3) was led at the plate by Gannon Ripke who went 1-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Ottawa-Glandorf 8 Bryan 7 (8 inn.)

Bryan built a 7-2 lead but was unable to hold on as the Titans scored six runs in the last two innings to pick up the win. The Bears, who pounded out seven hits as a team, was topped by Brecken Deckrosh (two doubles, two RBIs), Keith Huard (single, double, four RBIs), and Quinn Brown (two singles, one RBI).

Lake 15 Delta 0 (5 inn.)

The Panthers were held to only two hits as they started the season with a loss at Lake. Conner Moore had a big night for Lake by going 3-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

JV SCORES:

North Central d. Wauseon 10-7

BOYS TENNIS

Bryan 5 Springfield 0

The Golden Bears started their season by sweeping all five matches against the visitors from Springfield. Jay Fortner picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win in1st Singles, Carter Brown won 7-5, 6-1 in 2nd Singles, and Micah McCashen took 3rd Singles by forfeit. On the doubles side, Nathan Hess/Craig Jackson were 6-0, 6-0 winners and Aiden Andrews/Caleb McCashen picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
