Mary Krauss (1939-2021)

Mary Louise Krauss, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, January 28, 2021, at Northcrest Nursing Home in Napoleon. She was born June 7, 1939 in Morenci, Michigan to Ivan and LaFern (Shoemaker) Leu. Mary was a 1957 graduate of Swanton High School, and married William Krauss on June 8, 1957.

Mary was co-owner with her husband, Bill, and secretary for 33 years, for M&W Excavating. Mary was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Delta Area Mothers of Twins. She loved playing BINGO and was an avid reader, especially James Patterson novels.

Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill; sons, John C. (Debbie)  Krauss of Delta, OH; daughters, Jane M. Krauss of Swanton, OH and Joyce A. (Gary) Short of Archbold, OH; daughter-in-law, Carol Rupp; 7 grandchildren, Brandon (Jeanelle) Krauss, Bobby Krauss, Brianna (Mike) Turner, Charles (Sara) Krauss, Blake Krauss, Brooke (Alex) Bernath and Austin (Ashley) Short; 6 great-grandchildren, Addilyn, Kendall, Kinsley, Beckett, Hudson and Jeffrey; her brother, James H. (Judy) Leu of Delta, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey L. Krauss and granddaughter, Alexa Krauss.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 (Noon) with Pastor Todd Milner officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.
