Maurice Lee “Moe” Gilliland, 60, of Fayette, formerly of Napoleon, OH, died Monday afternoon, February 1, 2016, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, OH. He was born April 4, 1955, in Lima, OH, to Maurice and Phyllis (Middleton) Gilliland. He married Linda Seiler on January 26, 2016, and she survives.
Moe attended Napoleon High School and later enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Moe has been a long-time employee of Tenneco Inc. in Napoleon. He was a member of the AmVets Post #1991 in Defiance.
Moe is remembered for his love of woodworking, working on cars, watching wrestling, and Minnesota Vikings football. Moe had a sarcastic sense of humor and enjoyed making people smile. A mama’s boy at heart, his most cherished moments were spent with his beloved family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda, of Fayette, are his mother, Phyllis Gilliland of Defiance; a daughter, Brandi (Eric) Combs of Napoleon; a son, Nick (Kassy) Gilliland of Stryker, OH; two sisters, Linda Craig of Angola, IN, and Garna (Ray) Gineman of Defiance; step-daughter, Abbie Seiler of Fayette; step-son, Devyn Double at home; and six grandchildren, Deric, Mackenzie, Alexia, Mason, Riehanna, and Jennifer. Moe was preceded in death by his father.
According to Moe’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Moe’s life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the AmVets Post #1991, 1745 Spruce St., Defiance, OH. Arrangements were handled by the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette.
