Heather Lumbrezer, the new Fiscal Officer/Village Clerk of Metamora, sat in training at the May 3, 2021 council meeting. She is well known by all there and seemed to immediately fit in.

Consultant Angie Smith, who was the Fiscal Officer in the past, was her “trainer” for the evening and both felt free to speak up and share their thoughts throughout the meeting. Council voted to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.

Village Solicitor Alan Lehenbauer informed council that he is waiting to hear back from the township concerning an easement and he should know more by the end of the month.

In old business, council continued the discussion on the possibility of a Volleyball League, agreeing they still want more information. Some conversation on the Concession stand as to who will be working in it this summer, was also held.

In the Fiscal Officer’s report, Smith informed council that a letter had come from the state regarding Liquor license renewals being due on July 1, 2021. Council voted to suspend the rules and approve an Ordinance on having Dynegy as the electric supplier for the village.

Trevor and Katie are to get prior Purchase Orders from the village office to purchase the items needed to fix up the parks, from money that has already been appropriated for the parks. A man has sent a letter asking for some Community Service Hours and Council agreed they want to know why he needs it and what hours he would be available.

The need for the community owned trees to be trimmed professionally was determined and some names shared of businesses who might be able to do so. The office internet has been switched over to Spectrum and council was advised of how to get the new wifi ID and password.

The last item that Smith shared was that a phone call had come in, in which someone was inquiring if the village had any rules regarding medical marijuana stores. Solicitor said they could make an ordinance prohibiting them if they want to as they do not have any at this time.

Mayor Richard Sauerlender reported that Ziad Musallam from the County Engineer’s office, is retiring as of May 14, 2021. Council agreed to sending a retirement card to his office.

Council went into executive session at 7:39 to discuss personnel and property. When they came out of executive session at 8:03 a motion was passed to send further notices regarding any type of nuisance within the village such as lawns, garbage, etc. be send from the Village as opposed to any specific person from the village.

They also approved a motion to have the Solicitor send a letter to the property owner of 124 E. Main St. regarding its current property condition and the safety issues it presents.

They also will have the letter include the possible interest of the village in purchasing the property.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:15.
