METAMORA VILLAGE COUNCIL: Search For New Maintenance Employee Underway

The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, January 10th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The first order of business involved the mayor swearing in the newly elected Council members. Cathy Mossing, Karen Noward, Cindi Pawlaczyk, and John Pupos. Each council members term will continue until December 31st, 2025.

Council then moved to elect Karon Lane to the position of Village Council President for the remainder of 2022. Minutes for the previous meetings that took place on December 20th, 2021, and December 27th, 2021, were then approved, followed by the reading of the bills.


In the Solicitors report, Al Lehenbauer resigned as the Village Solicitor with an effective date of 01-10-2022. A recommendation was made to contact Kevin Whitlock from the law firm Barber, Kaper, Stamm, McWatters, Whitlock and Maloney out of Wauseon. A motion was made and approved to contact Kevin Whitlock about the Village Solicitor position.

In old business, the mayor submitted names for the Planning Commission and Zoning Appeals Board. The names are as follows, Planning Commission- Justin Kreischer, Cheryl Geer, Cathy Mossing, Mike Ehrsam and Rich Sauerlender. Zoning Appeals Board- Lynda Arquette, Rick Meiring, Nicki Loeffler, Karen Noward and Adam Vance. Bryce Young as the alternate for either committee. A motion was made to approve the selections as presented which was approved.

A discussion then took place regarding properties in the village that may need to be rezoned. The options are a conditional use permit or rezoning from residential to commercial. Property owners will be informed of which to apply for.

CT Consultants quoted $34,200.00 to map the sanitary sewer system digitally, perform investigative smoke tests and make recommendations for future improvements. Grant money from the American Rescue Plan Act in the amount of $63,688.64 will be used for these improvements.


In new business, a recommendation was made to have Pasternak’s tree service remove a broken limb from a tree hanging over the new fence at the park.

Another recommendation was made to enter into a contract with NOW Control, LLC for eight applications for mosquito control this summer, as well as any other additional applications as needed.

The Fulton County Commissioners reached out to the village to see if there were any properties that need to be demolished. A list of possible properties was sent over.

In the fiscal report, the warranty for the 2021 John Deere gator is expiring. A motion was made and approved to purchase a comprehensive Powergard Protection Plan for $611.00 that will extend the warranty for two years.


A maintenance position was posted in The Village Reporter, Fulton County Expositor, and the Ohio Means Jobs. Interviews will be scheduled for January 31st, with 2 resumes being received so far.

The Fulton County Economic Development Director Matt Gilroy reached out regarding a company employing around 50 people.

The company is looking into Metamora as a possible new site. It was originally thought that the sewer capacity would not be able to handle the new facility.

After talking with Wastewater Supervisor Rick Meiring, it was discovered that the lagoons are equipped to handle the extra usage needed by the company. Council then moved to adjourn 7:55 p.m.
