Michael Hoffman (1945-2023)

Michael W. Hoffman, 78 years of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.

Michael was born May 6, 1945, in Morenci, Michigan, the son of the late Harry and Marilyn (Hauger) Hoffman. He was a 1963 graduate of Bryan High School. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Michael married Sherlene L. Smith on January 7, 1967, in Bryan, and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2019. Mike was a salesman for the Kellermeyer Corporation for over 25 years.

He also sold monuments for Delphos Granite Works. He was a Past-President of the Bryan Kiwanis Club.

He was a member of Bryan Golden Knights Car Club, and the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233.  Michael loved to do woodworking, go camping, fishing and loved his Ford Mustang.


Surviving are his two children, Jodi (Larry) Irving of Napoleon and Jason Hoffman of Elkhart, Indiana; two grandchildren, Logan (Morgan) Irving of Napoleon and Andrea (Kody Boehm) Irving of Napoleon; one great-grandson, Fulton Irving with another arriving in July; two brothers, Steve (Diane) Hoffman of Aurora, Ohio and William Hoffman of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sherlene.

A visitation for Michael W. Hoffman will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4 :00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home – Lynn Street Chapel, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services for Michael will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday May 31, 2023, in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Doseck.  Interment to follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, where the combined honor guard of the Bryan American Legion Post 284 and Bryan VFW Post 2489 will accord Military Graveside Rites.

The family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy to consider memorial contributions be made to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, 6825 State Route 66, Defiance, Ohio 43512, or Wounded Warriors Foundation.
