MILLCREEK-WEST UNITY BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Approves Hiring Of New JH/HS Principal

The Millcreek-West Unity Board of Education held its meeting on Monday, May 13th. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. with Superintendent Wyse presenting the Second Reading of NEOLA Policy Updates. Mr. Wyse also spoke to the board regarding the upcoming levy renewal opportunities.

Principal reports were then presented to the board before moving on to approve a list of items, as part of a consent agenda, with those items listed below.

– Approved Minutes from the April 2024 Board of Education Meeting and April 2024 Financial statements and investments.


– Approved the Reasonable Assurance of Employment List for substitute teachers and classified substitutes for school year 2024-2025.

– Approved the 7-12 Principal Contract for Troy Cummins for school years 2024-2025, 2025-2026, 2026-2027, and approved up to 10 additional working days in July for Steve Riley for transitioning to the new Superintendent position.

– Approved a contract amendment for Traci Thompson, Treasurer.


-Approved workdays for Ashley Siegel for June 2024 paid at the FY25 daily rate, to transition to the end of her para contract to the beginning of her Assistant Treasurer contract.

-Approved an updated payment to Amanda Leidy to transport her children to and from school for the remainder of the school year at $50 per day and approved a three-year agreement with Public School Works for online mandatory compliance training and reporting for staff.

– Approved an agreement with NwOESC for Mentor Services for the 2024-2025 school year, approved an agreement with Healthcare Process Consulting for School Medicaid Program Services, for July 1st, 2024 – June 30th, 2027, and approved a list of revenue increases and appropriation modifications.

-Approved meal prices and increases for FY2025, a list of NEOLA updates, and several personnel recommendations.


The 2024 Senior Graduating Class list for 2024 was then approved by the board, along with a list of donations an amendment to the Driver Assistant Language in the Classified Policy Statement, supplemental contracts for the 2024-2025 school year, and book/lab fees for grades 7-12 for the 2024-2025 school year.

Board members then welcomed Mr. Troy Cummins as Hilltop’s new Junior High / High School Principal. Mr. Cummins has previously taught Junior High Science at Hilltop. The meeting was then adjourned by the board at 6:12 p.m.

The next board meeting will be held on Monday, June 24th, at 6:00 p.m. in the library.
