MILLCREEK-WEST UNITY SCHOOL BOARD: Board Approves First Reading For NEOLA Board Policy Updates

The Millcreek West Unity Board of Education held a meeting on Monday, October 17th. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The superintendent then presented the first reading of the NEOLA Board Policy updates and replacements.

He also spoke about the necessity to hire an additional paraprofessional to meet student needs. The principals reports were then presented.

The following consent agenda items were then approved by the board. The September 2022 Financial Statements and the minutes from the September 2022 Board of Education meeting.


The raising of the districts federal expenditure procurement micro-purchase threshold to $50,000 for FY23.

An agreement with Bryan City Schools to provide specials education services for the 22-23 school year.

A donation of an Apple iPad from Williams County Family and Children’s First Council.


An amendment of an employment contract for Bill Stripe due to an omission of an agreed upon provision. Employment recommendations were then approved for the following individuals.

Manda Plum as a Substitute Paraprofessional, Lori Pilmore as a Multi-Task Aide with nine years’ experience, and Godwin Owusu-Safo as an Assistant Esports Advisor.

A donation was also accepted from the Hilltop Class of 1962 who donated a book to the library in memory of James Hatchel entitled, “Sherman, A Soldier’s Passion for Order” by John E. Marszalek.

The meeting was then adjourned at 6:18 p.m. The next meeting will take place on November 14th, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
