Monica Moroa Patterson, 53, passed away Thursday morning at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier.
She has lived in Montpelier for the last 5 years, prior to that she had lived in Sarasota, Florida for 45 years.
Monica was born on April 5, 1964 in Bryan to Donald Larry and Ella Mae (Kemarly) Patterson. Monica graduated from Sarasota High School.
Monica attended the First Church of Christ in Sarasota, Florida. She was a terrific seamstress and managed Cove Cleaners, a dry-cleaning business in Sarasota for many years. Monica loved to tinker with computers and was very tech savy. At one time, she raised foster children and had a special place in her heart for animals.
She is survived by her mother Ella M. Patterson of Montpelier; a niece that she raised, Amber Dunaway of Florida; four siblings, Roxanna Koch of Montpelier, Donnie Patterson of Florida, Kathryn (Scott) Johnson of Florida and Michelle Patterson of Florida; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many friends and a special cat Bo Rilee. Monica was preceded in death by her father and brother Jeff Patterson.
