“This was a phenomenal once in a lifetime trip,” shared Montpelier Band Director Laura Zumbaugh, when talking about being part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

She shared that her favorite part of the trip was getting together with the “great humans” that were the band directors composing a band in honor of former director Mike Sewell.

WONDERFUL PEOPLE Some of Director Zumbaughs most precious memories will forever be shared with the wonderful musicians she practiced and performed with while in New York

All 50 states were represented, and the theme of this year’s trip was “the greatest gift you can give us is your time.”

Some of her favorite memories will forever be practicing while watching the sunrise come over the New York City skyline, playing Amazing Grace at both the 9/11 Memorial and the steps of the New York City Post Office, practicing through the streets of New York at 3 a.m. together with the other directors to better prepare for their television appearance, and “meeting and talking to so many different band directors from around the country who all came here to experience this trip and honor the profession of music education.”
