MONTPELIER BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Authorizes Necessary Tax Levies For FY 2022

The Montpelier Board of Education held their meeting on Tuesday, December 14th at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The board then moved to student recognition with the following students being recognized.

Grayson Gill – Kindergarten, Parker Smith – 1st Grade, Breckin Miller – 2nd Grade, LolaBelle Brown – 3rd Grade, Natalie Strobel – 4th Grade, Carson Holman – 5th Grade, Rose Mills – 5th Grade, Lila Fackler – 6th Grade, Austin Brunt – 7th Grade, Johnny Fritsch – 8th Grade, Lily Morr – 8th Grade, and Aleigha Hillard – HS.

Discussions then followed regarding the 2022 board meeting schedule before moving on to public participation.

Reports were then discussed with the board including the legislative report, principal’s reports and treasurers report. The board then moved to approve the minutes for the previous meeting that took place on November 16th.


The financial report was then given to the board who then voted to approve the following items for November. Cash reconciliation, FINSUM, check register, budget vs actual report and the investment report.

Numerous donations were then approved followed by a recommendation to approve the revised resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission.

The resolution also gives authorization for the necessary tax levies for FY 2022 and certifies them to the county auditor. The revision decreased the bond millage from 3.5 mills to 2.5 mills.


Board members then approved changes in district employment before approving a proclamation making January 2022 School Board Recognition Month.

The organization meeting was then set for January 11th, 2022, at 5:15 p.m. with the regular meeting following after. The School Health Aide job description #303 was then revised to school nurse.

Eric Howell was appointed as a library board trustee for a seven-year term that is effective on January 1st, 2022. Kimberly Friend was then appointed to the park board with an effective date of January 1st, 2022.


Board members then discussed the organizational meetings pro-tem president before discussing executive session. The board then moved to adjourn for the evening.
