Montpelier Exempted Village Board Of Education Addresses Fiscal/Personnel Issues

Mont.School Board 06-25-2014 MM 001 WEBMONTPELIER June 25, 2014- The Montpelier Exempted Village Board of Education held their monthly meeting on June 25 in the Montpelier High School Choir Room. In attendance were Pam Pawlowicz (Executive Secretary)Superintendant Dr. Jamison Grime along with board members Cris Wurm, Darrell Higbie, Terry Buntain, Deb Clum along with Board President Larry Martin.

Board President Martin brought the meeting to order at 5:15 with a moment of silence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. In accordance with Board Policy, the members of the board opened the monthly meeting allowing public access and comment addressing issues brought forth from the residents of the village. There were no public members in attendance to address the June Meeting.

In the Treasurer’s Report, it was recommended May’s Financial Statement along with Investments for May be approved. The board approved the financial statements and investments for April 2014 as presented, Approved the donations as presented (The Rob Taylor Family to Archery Club $50.00, Athena Study Club to Montpelier Girls basketball $200.00, Montpelier Civic League $2300.00, Fraternal Order of Eagles to HS 101 Cir. $2,605.00, American Legion to Band $300.00, Montpelier Athletic Boosters $3,140.00, Moore Industries/Farrell’s Lawn Service $105.00, In Memory of Glenn Suffell $50.00, Shopko $250.00, Montpelier Iron Horse Wrestling to Wrestling team $600.00, and the F.I.R.S.T. Club to Girls Basketball $1500.00).

Also approved by the board was: the creation of the following accounts: 200-9218 for the Class of 2018, the board requested the County Budget Commission make changes to the Amended Certificate as presented, Approved modifications to permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2014 as presented, Approved participation in the Ohio SchoolComp 2015 Workers Compensation Group Rate Program, Transferred the remaining balance in the 2010 John Dwyer Scholarship (007-9110) to the 2014 John Dwyer Scholarship (007-9114), Approved scholarships and amounts to be paid after funds have been received, Approved severance pay for Connetta Graham and Christina Hupe, Approved the temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2014, Accepted the letter of resignation for Elizabeth Schoenrock effective the end of the 2013-2014 school year.


In personnel issues for the 2014-2015 school year: Approved David Apple as an 8th grade Math Teacher at Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years’ experience for the 2014-2015 school year, Approved Paul Diaz as a High School Science Teacher at Master’s Degree and 9 years’ experience for the 2014-2015 school year, Approved Sara Livensparger as a 7-8 Intervention Specialist at Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years’ experience for the 2014-2015 school year, Approved Brandon Shoup as a 7th grade Science Teacher at Master’s Degree and 0 years’ experience for the 2014-2015 school year (pending licensure), Approved Jimmie Phillips as a 7-12 cross-categorical Intervention Specialist at Master’s Degree and 4 years’ experience, pending degree, Approved graduate hours for Kaitlin Brancheau for the 2013-2014 school year,

The Board also approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2014-2015 school year: Michele Anderson 8 days extended time, Jennifer Kustec Pep Band, Jennifer Kustec Marching Band, Jennifer Kustec Summer Band, Garrett Leininger Assistant Marching Band, Khrysta Coleman Junior Class Advisor, Leslieann Wheeler Sophomore Class Advisor, Bobbi Miller Freshman Class Advisor, Katy Corkle Yearbook Advisor (.5), Stephanie Friend HS Student Council, Jason Johnston JH Student Council, Sarah Torres HS Quiz Bowl, Sarah Torres JH/Elementary Quiz Bowl, Lester Orndorff Co-HS Science Olympiad, Lester Orndorff Co-JH Science Olympiad, Garrett Leininger Co-5th Grade Play, Katy Corkle Co-5th Grade Play, Timothy Ford Summer OGT, Tami Richmond Senior Class Advisor, Hollie Carroll Co-HS Science Olympiad, Hollie Carroll Co-JH Science Olympiad, Accepted the letter of resignation for Tayna Dutkiewicz effective the end of the 2013-2014 school year, Approved the agreement with Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention and Rehabilitation, Center for the 2014-2015 school year at $38.00 per student, per week day, Approved the NWOCA membership fees for the 2014-2015 school year (approximately $37,418.86), Approved the Montpelier Public Library 2015 Proposed Budget, Approved the Montpelier High School/Junior High fees for the 2014-2015 school year ($35.00), Approved the Montpelier Schools Athletic fees for the 2014-2015 school year, Approved the K-6 grade fees at $35 per grade for the 2014-2015 school year, Approved the cell phone/uniform stipends for the 2014-2015 school year (Superintendent, Treasurer, AD, Maint. Director, Custodian I, Trans. Supervisor, Bus Mechanic $35,.00; HS principal, Elem. Principal, Asst. HS Principal, Elem. dean of Students, Tech. Director $20.00 ). A $400.00 uniform stipend was also approved for the following positions: Maint. Director, Bus Mechanic, Trans. Supervisor, Custodian I and II.

Next items on the agenda were the Legislative Report along with the Student Achievement Liaison Report. Neither areas had information to report for the June Meeting. The board concluded the June agenda by going into executive Session for discussion of personnel issues, followed by adjournment.
