(January 30th, 2015) – EVERGREEN: In North Western Ohio Athletic League action, the Lady Locomotives challenged the Vikings of Evergreen in a tough road test.

A tough second and third quarter sealed Montpelier’s fate, however, as they fell to Evergreen 48-32.

The Locos started strong on both ends of the court, securing a 9-8 lead at the conclusion of the opening period. The Viking girls came back hard, though, as they took control of the game in the second quarter thanks to an 11-4 effort. At the half, Montpelier was behind by 6 points, 19-13.

In the third period, The Lady Locos struggled to contain the Viking attack. The hometown girls of Evergreen expanded their lead with an 18-9 performance in the quarter. Montpelier never gave up, but there was just too much distance to cover. They couldn’t make up any ground in the final stanza, as they were outscored 11-10 in the quarter.

Hannah Blake, a junior standout for the Locomotives, provided most of the scoring for the Loco girls. She had 13 points off of 6 field goals, including a three. Baylee Hageman also stepped up for Montpelier, as the senior totaled 10 points on the evening. Aubrey Pirtle added 3 points, while senior Breanna Stein put up 2 more in the loss.
