Montpelier Happenings Discussed At Monthly Chamber Meeting

The Montpelier Chamber of Commerce met for their regular meeting on Friday April 11th. Present for the meeting were: Jeanette Hull, Shelley Davis, Chris Lee, Jennifer Koch, Kandace Potts-Salaz, Kurt Roan, Gloria Osburn, Dave Tilly, Chris Kannel visiting from Kannel Insurance Agency, and Kara Custar from the OTHG committee.

President Jeanette Hull opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Minutes were approved. The Committee Reports were given. Pam Lucas was absent for government affairs. Kurt Roan reported on village affairs. Mr. Roan said that the will be taking bids on Phase IV of the Sewer Project and starting the Airport Rd. Substation Expansion Project. President Jeanette Hull commended the village for doing a great job. Jeanette Hull reported for WEDCO. The group will be touring the new WEDCO offices on April 22nd and the Route 66 Round table and plant tour will be held on April 24th at C.K. Technologies. Gloria Osburn reported on community affairs. On April 19th there will be a book signing from 10:00a.m. – noon featuring the book “Surrendered Identity” written by Robin Theis at the Montpelier Library and on May 15th the Library will also be holding a “Spring Flowers” painting class.

Dave Tilly wanted to remind everyone that Good Friday services will be held on Friday, April 18th at The House of Prayer with St. Paul’s U.M. Minister Rev. Blank speaking. Mr. Tilly wanted to invite everyone to the luncheon at the Presbyterian Church on April 19th from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. The National Day of Prayer is to be held at the Presbyterian Church on May 1st. Mr. Tilly also took the time to commend the M.H.S. Band for making it to state competition. Also mentioned was that Matt Kaullen from Montpelier Schools and the Robotics Club will be attending the National Robotics Competition in Marion County Ohio on April 10th, 11th and 12th. The board moved onto old business. The roof and building repairs was tabled. Ms. Hull provided the Bean Day’s 2014 Update. On April 30th, the group will be hosting a Town Hall meeting at 6:30p.m. at the fire station. The Bean Day’s Balloon page on Facebook has been visited frequently, this year’s Bean Judging will be open to the community. Baker’s Propane is supplying the propane for the Balloon Festival, and the public will be helping to select the Parade Marshal this year. The group is working on a form and criteria to be used. The new business was, Terry received a letter from the health department concerning the waste at Pocket Park. They were given 10 days to clean up the waste. The meeting was then motioned to be adjourned.

The next meeting will be on Friday, May 9th, 2014 at 8:00am at the Chamber office.
