For the first time two Montpelier seniors have received scholarships from AMP.
Harry Phillips, director of Marketing and Member Relations at AMP, presented scholarship checks June 27 at the Montpelier Village Council meeting, to the graduates.
Haley Suffel won the Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship and Madison Summers won the Lyle B. Wright Scholarship. This is the first time that Montpelier Seniors have won both AMP, Inc. scholarships, and it is only the second time in AMP’s history that two recipients from the same community have won both scholarships.
Phillips said the organization had more candidates this year than in the past, which means more competition. The Gorsuch scholarship is for a student whose parent, guardian, etc. works for the village. The Wright scholarship is for a student who lives in the community that is a member of AMP, Inc.
