The Morenci Fire Department recently put out a statement on social media regarding two fires they had recently responded to.

The first fire was located on Morenci Road between Myerholtz and Munson Highway and consisted of a large double hip roof barn and a garage. At 10:06 p.m. departments responded to the fire call and found that the structure was fully involved. A house trailer on the property was saved.

The second fire attended to by the Morenci Fire Department was called out at 6:35 a.m. and was located in the 15000 block of Limecreek Road. The fire was located in a two-story residential building and was fully involved upon arrival. A small outbuilding was saved.

According to the statement, both of these properties were vacant and both have been declared an arson. “We are asking anyone with any information regarding these two fires to contact the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department or the Morenci Fire Department.”

“Anyone that lives near a vacant property, please keep an eye out for anything, or any suspicious vehicles in the area of such structures, please immediately call 911, both of these fires have been turned over to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department.”

“We would like to thank all the fire departments that assisted us last night and this morning, your help is greatly appreciated.”

“These departments include the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department, Lyons-Royalton Fire Department, Clayton Fire Department, Hudson Fire Department, Fairfield Township Fire Department, Madison Charter Township Fire Department, and Alvordton-Millcreek Township Fire Department.”
