On Tuesday, February 10, the Pettisville FFA hosted a special motivational assembly at Pettisville School for students in grades 5 through 12. The event featured guest speaker Brock Mealer, whose story of overcoming adversity inspired students and staff alike.

This assembly was part of the FFA chapter’s annual goal to improve the overall mental wellness of the student body. The Healthy Lifestyles Committee, responsible for planning the event, saw the assembly as an opportunity to foster resilience and positivity among students.

Brock Mealer shared his remarkable journey, beginning with a 2007 car accident that left him paralyzed. Despite the odds, Mealer worked tirelessly with the University of Michigan’s strength training coach and ultimately achieved the milestone of walking the University of Michigan Football Team onto the field.

His message highlighted the importance of strength, perseverance, and faith in the face of life’s challenges.

Following the assembly, students participated in a five-question reflection activity, receiving a wellness goody bag upon completion. The bags included a “strive for the impossible” bracelet, a wellness journal, a stress ball, and motivational cards to remind students of the assembly’s message.

FFA Healthy Lifestyles Committee Member Katie Moore commented, “I feel like this assembly helped students, and the students seemed to really enjoy listening to the speaker.”

The assembly and goody bags were sponsored by the Pettisville FFA, Pettisville School Foundation, Pettisville FFA Alumni through the John & Lexie Poulson Leadership Fund, and the Ohio FFA Foundation IDEA Collaborative.
