Nancy Adams, age 80, of Edon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a brief illness. Mrs. Adams was a 1955 graduate of Van Wert High School and went to work right out of high school as a secretary for Aeroquip in Van Wert for five years. After moving to Edon with her husband, Kent, she served as a longtime village clerk and in 1995 she became the owner and manager of Laker’s Restaurant in Hamilton, Indiana, where she was still active in day-to-day operation.

To many of her family and friends she was affectionately known as “MaMa” and throughout the years she developed close relationships with many of her patrons, forging lasting friendships that she cherished. She was a member of the Edon United Methodist Church, loved to collect zebras and even had a zebra room in the restaurant.

Nancy L. Adams was born on January 18, 1937, in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of G.D. Harruff and Cleo Beatrice (Stemen) and Murl Hershberger. She married G. Kent Adams on July 30, 1960, at Zion Christian Union Church in Van Wert County and he survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Shelly (Todd) Muehlfeld, of Edon, and Stephanie (Greg) Stacy, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, James Kent Adams, of Hamilton, Indiana; seven grandchildren, T.J. (Rebecca) Muehlfeld, Taylor (Kaitlyn) Muehlfeld, Madison Beatrice (Trevor) Thiel, Adam, Gabe and Christian Stacy, and Baily Rae; and four great-grandchildren, Blake, Evan, Corbyn and Carson Muehlfeld.

Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, on Monday, March 6, 2017, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edon United Methodist Church with Pastors Doug Widdowson and Eric Dailey officiating. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral services on Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Edon United Methodist Church.
