Saturday’s crisp, sunny morning air made for a perfect weekend run! On Saturday, October 29, several area adults and children signed-in for the Third Annual Run For the Pumpkins 5K and Goblin Kid Run at the Archbold High School.

The event, which was organized by the Archbold Chamber of Commerce, boasted 55 total registered participants for the 5K and Goblin Run combined.

In the Men’s Division of the 5K, first place honors went to Nick Lanzer, Gavin Knierim came in with second place, and Trevor Osterland took the third place spot.

In the Women’s Division, Madison Bowers took first place while Natalie Schmucker and Janae Murillo came in second and third respectively.

According to Archbold Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rhonda Leininger, this is the third year for their 5K event and it was started as a fundraiser to help fund various Village of Archbold attractions and events such as the Festival of Lights and the Summer Shindig held in July.

Leininger added, “I would like to thank Subway, NEF, Archbold Refuse Service, Farmers and Merchants State Bank, Christy Buick Chevrolet, Rivellos McDonalds, Archbold Rotary and our Platinum Sponsors for supporting this event.”

“And also thanks to the  Archbold Police Department who drove along the route during the race to ensure everyone stayed safe.”
