North Central Holds 2014 Graduation; Nathaniel McBride Named Class Valedictorian

PIONEER: June 1, 2014- The North Central Local Schools held their 2014 graduation on June 1 inside the High School Gymnasium. Nathaniel McBride was named the 2014 Class Valedictorian and Jaclyn Kinsman was honored as the 2014 Class Salutatorian.

High School Principal Mr. Tim Rettig opened the ceremonies with a welcome to attendees and the graduates. North Central Band Director Sgt. Jason Luthy (United States Army Reserve) led the graduation attendees in the recital of The Pledge of Allegiance, followed by The Star Spangled Banner to open the day’s event.

The 2014 Class Speaker, Teacher and Athletic Director Mr. Kent Hutchison, addressed the graduating seniors and provided a guideline of ten rules to follow for lifetime success. The graduating class motto this year is: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition…..stay hungry.” Steve Jobs. The 2014 graduates also selected the Red Rose as the Class Flower; Black and White were the Class Colors, and the Class Songs was “Time of Your Life” by Greenday.

Class Salutatorian Ms. Kinsman addressed the graduates and spoke of the connection classmates have had over the past 13 years and the importance of maintaining friendships in the future and connection with classmates. Class Valedictorian Nathaniel McBride spoke about the journey graduating seniors have been through over the past years and the future promise each class member has an obligation to live up to.


Graduating with honors and wearing the Silver Cord signifying membership in the National Honor Society for the class of 2014, and also wearing the Gold Cord denoting Honor Students with a 3.5 GPA were: Nathanial McBride, Jaclyn Kinsman, Nicole Myers, Branden Turner, Dylan Hutchison, Brady Cogswell, Shea Livensparger Hunter Forry, Hannah Siekemeyer, Jazzmin Horne and Cole Clark. Also graduating with Gold Cords as Honor Student’s were Ashton Huffman and Brittany Keller.

This year’s Class President, Cole Clark, also addressed the attendee’s and presented the Class Gift to the North Central School-Welcome mats for the entranceway to the school.

Closing out the graduation ceremony, the Senior members of the North Central High School Chorus joined the returning members for a final performance, signing “Homeward Bound” and “Like An Eagle” to close out the 2014 Graduation.
North Central Board of Education President Mr. Craig McKarns joined principal Tim Rettig in awarding the 2014 graduate’s diplomas as the students completed their final act as North Central Eagles.
