Blakeslee Village Council heard an update from Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn regarding residents who haven’t paid their trash pickup bill at its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 1.

Council members in attendance were Nick Reed, Robert Mohre, Virgil Green, Brad Dahl, Shelly Cox, and Linda Muehlfeld. The minutes from the March 4 meeting were approved.
Osborn read off a list of residents who haven’t paid their trash pickup bill since she already sent out second notices for payment last month.
The council then discussed suggestions in contacting those residents, such as knocking on doors or making contact in person.
“I could send out another notice if you want me to,” said Osborn. “There aren’t too many left, but I do see last year, I collected payments into May.”
Discussion regarding the radar signs in the village arose when council member Brad Dahl spoke with Amy Miller of the Bryan Area Foundation about funding for the project.
Miller responded to Dahl’s funding question by saying, “don’t waste your time,” suggesting Dahl contact the Edon Area Foundation.
“Basically, after Edon Mayor Duane Thiel was here, he suggested the Bryan Area Foundation,” commented Dahl.
Dahl said that Miller suggested contacting the Edon Area Foundation or finding out if the village is allowed to hold a fundraiser, because there are ordinances that prohibit the village from pursuing that and perhaps raising some money that way.
Council member Shelly Cox said that Bryan Area Foundation had financial records going back to 1969, and they never gave Edon any money for radar signs.
Dahl said he will make some more inquiries and see what he can find out. In the financial report, Osborn reported the village received $16,690.07 in March with expenditures totaling $1,441.31.
Council member Virgil Green reminded residents that Trash Day in the village is set for Saturday, April 25.
The next council meeting is on Wednesday, May 6 at 6 p.m.
