North Central School To Get Keys To New High School Aug. 26

The open house for the 2016-17 looks like it will be at the new school.
North Central Local Schools Superintendent Ken Boyer updated the school board about the progress of the new high school at the board’s June 29 meeting. The district will receive the keys to the building Aug. 26.

In other news:
The board learned of plans by the coaching staff to address the lack of pride in the district. Jared Stewart said pride is more important than wins.
To improve conditions, the coaches are planning a special event from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 12 called Eagle Mania. Activities include a bonfire, games, the band, and cheerleaders.

The school’s FFA chapter will volunteer at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus July 27-28.

Revisions to 2016-2017 North Central Local School Calendar include
– Aug. 29 – New teachers report
– Aug. 30 – Teacher workday and open house (6-7:30)
– Aug. 31 – Teacher In-Service/workday
Brian Hughes was named as athletic director on an administrative contract for two years at $61,000 with fringe benefits as available to administration contracts.
Items for discussion:
Estimate of $100,000 to do the front parking lot in front of new school – Boyer said he feels this is a much needed item to make the new school complete
-Home Ec room is progressing very well
