COLUMBUS – The competition has been especially tough during the 2013 track and field postseason. That being the case, those who have survived the district and regional competitions are in a class of their own…the elite. Edon’s Sydney Stoll joined Emily Rupp and Christine Huston from Stryker on a quest for state gold in Columbus for the Division III State Finals. The area and the BBC was well represented as the three made their marks in the capitol city.

Rupp was unable to advance to the finals in the 400 after being eliminated in the tough preliminaries, and Stoll met the same fate in the 100 hurdles. There was more to come though, and the podium had spots reserved for both Edon and Stryker.
Huston turned in a high jump of five feet and three inches, giving her a place on the podium. Stoll turned her attention to her specialty, the 300 hurdles, and qualified for the finals with a time of 45.43 seconds. In her final race as an Edon Lady Bomber, Stoll flew over the hurdles with a time of 44.36 seconds, good for second best in the state. An example of how tough this year was compared to last is found in Stoll’s time. She finished second in 2012 as well, but her 2013 timing would have given her the state championship by six tenths of a second last year.
