ARCHBOLD (February 20, 2026) – On the final night of NWOAL competition, the Archbold Bluestreaks earned a dominant victory over the Bryan Golden Bears, fueled by balanced scoring throughout the lineup.
Three Bluestreaks reached double figures, led by Tripp Langenderfer’s 19-point performance. The opening quarter was a defensive battle, with both teams working to settle in and feel each other out.
Bryan struck first with a basket from Tucker Watson, who went on to lead the Golden Bears with 15 points in the contest.
Archbold answered with an 8-0 run, sparked by a three-pointer from Langenderfer. Wyatt Gericke followed with a layup, and Langenderfer buried another triple soon after, setting the tone early and showing he came out ready to attack.
Rhett McGill and Bryce Welling each added baskets for the Golden Bears in the opening quarter, but Langenderfer had the final say in the period with another score. His late bucket gave Archbold a 10-6 advantage heading into the second quarter.
The scoring pace quickened in the second quarter for both sides. Watson once again opened the frame with a bucket for Bryan, but Archbold answered immediately.
Aranjer Krieger converted on a strong putback, and Gericke followed with a three-pointer to keep the Bluestreaks in control.
Watson made his presence felt on back-to-back possessions, including a putback that turned into an and-one opportunity.
He converted the free throw to trim the deficit to 18-13 midway through the second quarter. A three-pointer from Bryan’s Hunter Watson pulled the Golden Bears closer, but Archbold had an answer once again.
Maddox Pinter knocked down a triple of his own, and Langenderfer followed with an and-one finish, helping the Bluestreaks carry a 25-16 lead into halftime.
Archbold came out of the break with renewed energy, and the impact of Coach Joe Frank’s halftime adjustments was evident.
The Bluestreaks opened the third quarter on an 11-0 run, quickly creating separation and taking firm control of the game.
The run began with a basket from Gericke, and Morgan Harris followed with a field goal and a pair of free throws, helping the Bluestreaks build momentum early in the third quarter.
Pinter buried another three, and Harris followed with a bucket, giving him six quick points in the quarter after being held scoreless in the first half.
Bryan eventually halted the momentum swing with contributions from Watson and Welling, but the Bluestreaks still had the 36-22 advantage midway through the third quarter.
Langenderfer got back in the mix with a three-pointer followed by a floater through the lane, and the quarter closed with back-to-back threes from Pinter.
His second came off a beautifully designed play, slipping the screen to free himself for a wide-open look that he buried at the buzzer, giving Archbold a 47-24 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
The final quarter turned into a slugfest, with both teams living at the free-throw line down the stretch and combining for 24 attempts in the period.
The game would end with Archbold pulling away for a 55-34 NWOAL victory over Bryan, closing out the regular season for both squads.
Now, both teams turn their attention to postseason play in hopes of capturing a sectional championship.
Bryan (6-16, 3-4 NWOAL) will travel to Lima Bath on Thursday, February 26, while Archbold (14-8, 5-2 NWOAL) will host Coldwater on Friday, February 27.
