ARCHBOLD (January 29, 2026) – The Archbold Bluestreaks were in control from start to finish as they rolled by Swanton, 59-16.
Play started slowly, with the first quarter seeing just one basket for Swanton from senior Carlie Lagrange and baskets for Archbold from freshman Molly Harris and two from senior Miley Gericke, who would go on to be the leading scorer in the game.
Things picked up considerably in the second quarter as the Bluestreaks began with a 15-point run via three baskets from Gericke, a basket and a trey from Harris, and a pair of buckets from senior Charlee Forward.
A hoop from Lagrange and free throw from sophomore Evelyn Ventimiglia for the Bulldogs were matched by a basket and free throw after a foul on the same play from Gericke, before Lagrange put in a basket for the final second quarter points for Swanton.
Archbold sophomore Emma Meyer sank a pair of free throws to end the first half 26-7. Gericke struck first in the third quarter with a basket, shortly followed by junior teammate Reagan Wendt.
A Bulldog field goal by Lagrange was immediately met by another Gericke score before Bluestreak sophomore Klaire Kern stole a Swanton ball for a breakaway layup.
Swanton senior Lauren Bettinger sank a free throw, leading to an eight-point Archbold run via a basket each from Harris, Kern, freshman Demi Short, and freshman Liza Rufenacht.
Lagrange put in a pair of free throws to bring the third quarter score to 42-14.
Archbold struck first in the final quarter with a basket and subsequent free throw from Gericke immediately followed by a Swanton (3-14, 0-5 NWOAL) bucket from Lagrange, making her responsible for 14 of the Bulldog’s 16 points.
The Bluestreaks (16-3, 4-1 NWOAL) responded by going on a 14-point run to end the game, triggering a running clock halfway through the quarter.
Forward gained the most ground with three baskets and a free throw, with Wendt sinking a three and Short making a basket.
Gericke put in the final basket of the game, bringing her to a total of 20 points and putting the final score at 59-16.
