Following a short recess, the Commissioners met with Deputy Director Pat McColley from ODOT for an update on construction projects in the county. Present as well as McColley were Highway Management Administrator Mark Bressler, Transportation Administrator Douglas Crawford, Area Engineer Douglas Raby and Region Manager of Division of Jobs and Commerce Jeff Loehrke.
McColley used a power point to show the projects in progress, which include a bridge on St. Rt. 2 between Stryker and Bryan, regular pavement maintenance, drainage maintenance, and a lot of mowing. Some discussion was held about their pleasure with the Mobile stoplights that are being used.
McColley also addressed the budge t which included the good news that the funds have been upped from $250,000 to $500,000 from which the county can draw.
Adopt a Highway was a topic of discussion as well, with it being described as a great program that is going really well.
Bressler thanked law enforcement for all they have done to crack down on the meth issue, as that has really helped the clean up of highways and roads to be easier and safer.
At 11:30, the Commissioners met with Brownlee, the CORSA director and Russ Davies who is their agent with Andres O’Neil. Brownlee and Davies updated the commissioners on the insurance renewal for the year.
They went over the county’s invoice and spoke about some of the details especially that the renewal was less than 2%. A Stewardship Report was also given by Mr. Loehrke, stressing how much money has been saved by pooling.
Some discussion was had concerning the good decision that was made to upgrade the Courthouse and the insurance of that.
“Over the last ten year, Williams County has received about $71,000 back in just loss control incentive money,” Loehrke said.
He continued with many other details, which can be seen in the minutes of the meeting. The session ended with kudos being given to Davies as “one of the better agents in the state of Ohio. He works very hard for you.”
