Archbold, OH – Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop has planned a variety of events throughout the spring to offer inspiration and education to quilters throughout the region and across the country! From a fun-filled “Shop Hop” to retreats, classes, social sewing events and the 40th annual Quilt Show, there are many unique quilting opportunities planned throughout 2016 at Sauder Village.
“At Threads of Tradition we continue to look for new and exciting ways to celebrate the rich heritage of quilting that has been handed down to us, while actively encouraging the growth and development of this heritage art,” shared Lorraine McNeal, Quilt Shop Manager.
Early in March two Quilt Retreats are planned at the Sauder Heritage Inn. Spaces are still available in the March weekday Quilt Retreat to be held March 1-3 and the Weekend Quilt Retreat on March 4-6. The Heritage Inn will be filled with the humming of machines during these retreats as quilters gather to work on projects, enjoy delicious food, relaxing accommodations and fellowship with other quilters. Call today to check availability or make reservations online at www.saudervillage.org
Another popular March event is the annual OH-MI Shop Hop. From Thursday, March 17 through Saturday, March 19 quilters from throughout the region will be “hopping” from shop to shop for prizes, special sales, free gifts and more! Passports for the OH-MI Shop Hop can be purchased at any of the participating quilt shops located in Archbold, Sylvania, Maumee, Tecumseh, Dearborn, Wyandotte and Ann Arbor.
Other new opportunities offered this spring provide quilters a chance to sew and socialize! Every Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. quilters are invited to stop by Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop (located in the Museum Building at Sauder Village) for “Sit and Sew Mondays”. There is no cost to attend, just an opportunity to visit, laugh, sew and enjoy the company of kindred quilters. Also new this year is the “SEWcializing Sewist” group. Gather at the Quilt Shop in the evening for some girl-time away from life’s everyday chores to enjoy sewing and socializing! This fun, free gathering will be held the first Friday and the third Thursday of the month starting in April, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Quilt classes are also offered year ‘round at Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop. The schedule includes a variety of classes for both beginner and intermediate skill levels.
The spring class list includes: “Everybody Wins,” “Christmas Traditions – Center Applique,” “Chopsticks,” and “Metro Lattice.” Class descriptions and registration information are available online at www.saudervillage.org
Threads of Tradition is also home to The Village Quilters – a local guild that meets on the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at Sauder Village. The guild is open to quilters of all skill levels – beginner, intermediate or more experienced.
