Ohio Fraternal Order Of Police Endorses Marcy Kaptur For Congress

September 7, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

TOLEDO — The Ohio Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has endorsed Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur for re-election. Citing her successful record securing critical investments for law enforcement, the FOP called her the “best choice” for keeping Ohioans safe.

“I have worked hand-in-glove with law enforcement to make sure they have the resources they need to reduce violent crime, get fentanyl off our streets, and protect themselves and our community,” said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the FOP and the 23,000 Ohio police officers they represent. They know I will stand up to politicians in both parties if they threaten to cut the critical programs.”

“I have a proven record of supporting our police and helping them access the federal resources they need to keep our communities and officers safe.”

“Congresswoman Kaptur respects the importance of investing in law enforcement programs that keep our communities safe. The 23,000 members of the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police are proud to endorse Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, ” said Jay McDonald, President of the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police.

“Marcy Kaptur has no fear of going toe-to-toe with politicians – no matter what their party – to support our officers. She has always delivered for us. Marcy Kaptur is the best choice for keeping our communities safe.”

A proven champion of law enforcement, Congresswoman Kaptur has repeatedly supported legislation that invests resources in law enforcement and first response, including help with the following local initiatives:

-The hiring of 100 new police officers in Toledo.

-$1.25 million for the Toledo Police Department to acquire new, state-of-the-art portable two-way radios for officers and patrolment, replacing obsolete equipment.

-$963,000 for the City of Oregon’s police department for the creation of a canine unit, technology upgrades, and community policing.

-Her support of the American Rescue Plan paid for facility upgrades, officer retention and recruitment, and pay increases for cops in counties all across the state of Ohio.
