Those that usually attend the Pioneer Village Council meetings were at the Pioneer Community Center bright and early on Saturday morning to welcome Jim Hoops to town.
The Ohio Representative attended the council meeting to laud Bill Turner, Diane Uland, and Alan Fiser for their hard work towards the betterment of the village of Pioneer.
Turner was thanked for his eight years of service as councilor, Uland was thanked for her ongoing 25-year tenure as secretary treasurer for the Village of Pioneer, and Fiser was thanked for his 28 years of service to the village, the last 16 of which have been spent serving as village administrator.
Denny Fackler was thanked for his 42 years of service to the Pioneer Fire Department, and veteran / Pioneer American Legion member Robert “Bob” Walkup was deeply thanked for his impact on the local community, from sponsoring events to championing the local veterans, and was honored additionally for his recent admission to the Ohio Veteran Hall of Fame.
Joseph Nickloy was congratulated on his appointment to the Pioneer Village Council, effective January 1st, 2024.
Anthony Burnett was nominated and approved as village administrator on a “probationary” status, and will be learning the ropes from Administrator Fiser and Fiscal Officer Gina Gruber before Fiser’s upcoming retirement.
Rodger Swank, after being recommended by Fackler, was approved to serve the village as the new chief of the fire department.
It was so wonderful that Representative Hoops was able to be present and help in the congratulating of these deserving individuals, without whom the operation of the village would be a lost cause.
