One Killed, 21 Injured In Nine Vehicle Crash On Interstate 75 Near Lima

Lima – The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a nine-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at approximately 12:25 P.M., on September 4, 2022, on Interstate
75 southbound, near mile post 125, in Allen County.

A 2019 Freightliner semi, operated by Dale K. Anglin, age 75, of Vermilion, Ohio, was traveling southbound on Interstate 75.

Mr. Anglin was approaching slowed traffic due to a separate crash. Mr. Anglin struck several vehicles, causing a total of nine vehicles to be involved.

Joseph B. Schwarz, age 64, of Fairfield, Ohio, was a rear seat passenger in a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban involved. Mr. Schwarz succumbed to his injuries and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Four occupants were transported to the Lima Memorial Hospital, six occupants were transported to the Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, and 11 occupants were treated
at the scene.


The crash resulted in a closure of Interstate 75 southbound lanes. The roadway has since been reopened. The Lima Post was assisted by the Lima Fire Department, Shawnee Township Fire
Department, Bath Township Fire Department, Perry Township Fire Department, Lima Allen County Paramedics, Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Allen County Coroner’s Office, Big Daddy’s Towing, Minich’s Towing, Blake’s Towing, Kenny’s Towing, Army’s Towing, H&H Funeral Services, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to operate all vehicles in a safe manner, and never drive distracted or impaired
