Napoleon Township – Troopers from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating an injury crash that occurred on northeast bound US 24, near the 39 mile post (Woodlawn Avenue/US 6 exit), Napoleon Township, Henry County.

On June 22, 2018, at approximately 2:43 p.m., a 2016 Volvo commercial tractor-trailer was traveling northeast on US 24. A 2005 Ford Taurus was merging onto US 24 from Woodlawn Avenue. The driver of the Ford Taurus lost control, spun out and went in front of the Volvo commercial tractor-trailer. The Volvo commercial tractor-trailer struck the Ford Taurus in the right lane. After impact both vehicles ran off the left side of the road and came to rest in the median.

The 2016 Volvo commercial tractor-trailer was operated by Stephen B. Kelly, 53 years of age, of Mississauga, Ontario. Mr. Kelly was wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred and he was not injured. The 2005 Ford Taurus was operated by Madison C. Diemer, 17 years of age, of Liberty Center, Ohio. She was wearing her seat belt when the crash occurred. Ms. Diemer suffered moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to Henry County Hospital. Ms.
Diemer was cited for failing to control her vehicle.

Impairment by alcohol and/or drugs is not believed to be a factor. The northeast bound lanes of US 24 were closed for approximately one hour and have since reopened.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Henry County Sherriff’s Office, the Napoleon Police Department, and Napoleon Fire & EMS. The commercial tractor-trailer was recovered by K & K Collison and Ford Taurus was towed by Snyder Chevy.
