The Dance Complex held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday July 1st. TDC, as it is also called, is located at 1160 North Shoop Avenue in Wauseon.
The dance studio opened in March and offers classes in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, and contemporary.
The studio offers classes for children aged three and up and also holds classes for adults. There is also a competition team called the TDC Elites that will travel to regional and national competitions in the area.
Mandy Hunter is the owner of TDC and said that dancing has been in her family now for over three generations with her experience starting when she was two years old. People may recognize Mandy from the Stars Unlimited Studio in Wauseon which is now closed.
“With COVID, everything closed and by the time everything had reopened, it had been over a year since Stars Unlimited was open. I did not want to give up with what I have been doing my whole life and I wanted to keep dance in the community.”
Lily Parsell and Tanner Puehler are the two instructors at TDC with Mandy. They both worked with Mandy at Stars Unlimited and were happy to come work with her again at TDC.
“It has truly been a humbling experience. I am so grateful to be here with everyone and continue to be inspired to be the best I can be and to bring the passion of dance into the community of Wauseon,” Lily said.
“It was definitely good to be back. It was a hard and sudden leave due to covid and we thought we’d be back in two weeks. Opening up was something I and the students needed. It’s my home away from home,” Tanner continued.
All of the instructors at TDC are looking forward to the years ahead. Open house for Fall classes will be held on July 20th and the 21st from 4pm to 7pm. Registrations will be accepted at that time.
Summer camps are also still coming throughout July and all events and class opportunities will be posted on the TDC’s Facebook page.
