Paula Jan Evans, age 65, peacefully passed away Wednesday morning, January 4, 2023 under hospice care at her Swanton home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 25, 1957 to the late Paul Watkins and Beth (Hammond) Watkins.
Paula graduated from Bath High School in Lima and went on to receive her licensing as a Registered Nurse.
She practiced nursing in Columbus at Riverside Methodist Hospital and the Ohio Area Agency on Aging.
After moving to Northwest Ohio, Paula worked at the Fulton County Health Center, University of Toledo Medical Center and the Toledo Clinic.
Paula was a member of the Delta Eagles and a former member of the Glass City Corvette Club.
She married Edward Evans and together shared 12 years until his passing on April 24, 2007.
Paula is survived by her daughter, Zarah (Nicholas Berard) Duncan of Wyandotte, MI; fiancée, Charles Richie; stepchildren, Cari-Ann Richie, Angela Richie, Ray Richie, Cathy Messenger, Justin DesJardins and Emily DesJardins; grandchildren, Claudia and Claire; along with many step-grandchildren and one step great grandson.
Friends will be received from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515; where a funeral service celebrating her life will follow beginning at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday. Pastor Jerry Steen will be officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery near Delta.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Foundation For Women’s Cancer at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, 26533 Network Place, Chicago, IL 60673-1286 in Paula’s memory.
