Pauline Oxenrider (1926-2020)

Pauline Lenore Oxenrider, 94 years, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier, with her family at her side. Lenore was born June 8, 1926 in Williams County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry E. and Beulah B. (Buda) Ridenour.

She was a 1945 graduate of Farmer High School. Lenore married Jack A. Oxenrider on July 14, 1945 in Gulfport, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2019. Lenore was a devoted wife and mother, tending to the care of her family. She also assisted her husband Jack in caring for the family farm.

She was a member of First Brethren Church, where she served as a Deaconess and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a volunteer for the Church Women United Thrift Shop. Lenore enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her three children, Dr. Jack (Dodi) Oxenrider of Middlebury, Indiana, Kathy (Ralph) Nicholls of Bryan and Ann (Dr. Dennis) VanDuyne of Warsaw, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Von (Tobi) Oxenrider, Aaron Oxenrider, Reece (Cheri) Nicholls, Ashleigh Nicholls, Reid (Jennifer) Nicholls, Adam (Kristin) VanDuyne and Alex (Emily) VanDuyne; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Fae Musser of Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; one brother, Lawrence B. Ridenour; one sister, Mildred Oberlin.

A Celebration of Life for Pauline Lenore Oxenrider will begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020 in First Brethren Church, 13050 County Road C, Bryan, with Pastor Luke Nagy officiating. Following the celebration of life, the family will gather in the parking lot of First Brethren Church, where you will be able to share in one of Lenore’s favorite snacks, Eric’s Ice Cream. Social distancing will be observed and those in attendance must wear a facial covering or mask due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A private committal service and burial will take place earlier in the day in Brown Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy to consider memorial contributions be made to First Brethren Church, 13050 County Road C, Bryan, Ohio 43506 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
