Pioneer Council Approves Annexation Agreement With Madison Township

Members of the Pioneer Village Council met in a special executive session on February 6, to adopt Resolution 102-2021, authorizing an Annexation Agreement, between the Village and Madison Township for the annexation of approximately 160 acres from the Township to the Village.

That agreement was turned down by the Township, which led to the action undertaken at the Pioneer Village Council meeting of February 8. On that evening, Council voted to repeal Resolution 102-2021, and a revised Annexation Agreement was penned.

Titled Resolution 103-2021, Council moved to approve the agreement for the annexation of the approximately 160 acres on the northeast side of the Village.


The agreement now awaits the approval of the Madison Township Trustees before it can be forwarded to the Williams County Board of Commissioners for their final consent.

In other actions, Council heard from Kevin and Kim Oxender referencing their annual petition to hold the Kaleb McLaughlin Ride to Remember and Organ Donation Awareness Day in the Village.

The annual summer event had to be trimmed back in 2020 due to COVID-19, but the hopes are that it can return at full strength in 2021. Council approved the date of July 10 for the event.


Under suspended rules of reading, Council passed Ordinances 02-2021, entering into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for street resurfacing, and Ordinance 03-2021, allowing for amended appropriations for 2021.

Council also moved to pay the Pioneer Hometown Hardware invoice for January in the amount of $368.08.
