With Santa slated to arrive in our area next month, Edon Area Chamber of Commerce members reviewed plans for Festival of Lights ~ 2012 during its monthly regular session held Tuesday, October 23 at the Edon Public Library.

The Fourth Annual community-wide Hometown Christmas celebration gets going November 25 (the Sunday following Thanksgiving) with the traditional Lighted Christmas Parade stepping off at 6:30 p.m.  Dazzling entries both big and small will gradually make their way from the Edon Schools Bus Barn parking lot, down Indiana and Michigan Streets ~ each lined with spectators of all ages ~ culminating at Walz Park where Santa will anxiously be waiting to visit with children inside the Historic Depot.

According to President Sam Farmer, the Edon Chamber hopes everyone will once again support this annual event, making Festival of Lights a real community project.  “We invite all Edon area residents to come out and help get Walz Park ready,” he noted.  “Our first workdays are set for Saturday, November 3, from 12:00-5:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 4 beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Our final day to get ready will be Sunday, November 11 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.”  Mark your calendar now so you won’t miss joining neighbors, friends and Edon High School seniors in celebrating the Christmas Season; plenty of fun and fellowship are guaranteed for all!

In other business, Chamber members:
• Accepted the Treasurer’s Report as presented by Spencer Kaiser.
• Approved submitting the necessary fee and paperwork to have its Charter brought current with the State.
• Noted plans for Edon Days 2013 ~ August 2-3-4 were now in progress; weekend events currently include Train Rides and Truck Pulls.
• Agreed to contact Brian Dicken, Northwest Regional Representative/Office of Lt. Governor Mary Taylor, regarding The Common Sense Initiative (CSI-Ohio) program; it is hoped to arrange a future meeting with CSI and local business owners to discuss the creation of a more jobs-friendly regulatory in Ohio.
The Edon Area Chamber of Commerce will meet in regular session Tuesday, November 27, 2012 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Edon Public Library.
