SHERIFF
(Mar. 13) Samuel Conner, age 39, Ft. Wayne, IN was operating a 2004 Jeep Liberty SUV. He was traveling East on US-6, 1/2 mile East of CR-1, in St. Joseph Township when he slid off the right side of the slush-covered roadway and struck the ditch causing the vehicle to overturn onto its top. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. Matter remains under investigation.
(Mar. 14) Steven Jordan, age 23, Bryan, OH was operating a 1997 Dodge Ram PU Truck. He was traveling South on CR-16, 2/10th mile North of CR-J, when he struck a turkey that was flying across the roadway. The turkey shattered the windshield but there were no injuries reported. Also in the vehicle were three additional passengers aged 21 years, 1 year, and 4 months.
(Mar. 14) A juvenile, age 16, was operating a 2009 Yardsport UTV (Utility/all-terain-type vehicle) on private property in Springfield Township when the juvenile struck a tree. The juvenile sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Montpelier Emergency Room. The juvenile was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Matter remains under investigation.
(Mar. 16) Johnna Sorgenfrie, age 41, Bryan, OH was operating a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. She was traveling West on CR-1, 4/10ths mile East of SR-49, when she traveled through high water on the roadway. The vehicle sustained minor damage. There were HIGH WATER signs posted. Matter remains under investigation.
(Mar. 15) The Williams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an active domestic violence incident occurring at a residence located in Madison Township. Through the investigation, James Pontious, age 30, Pioneer, Ohio, was arrested for Domestic Violence (M1). Additional charges on Rosann Pontious, age 30, Pioneer, Ohio are pending. Two children were in the home, ages 9 years and 6 years.
(Mar. 15) Kenneth Scharlow, age 51, Montpelier, Ohio was arrested on an outstanding Bryan Municipal Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial. He was taken to CCNO.
(Mar. 16) The Williams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an occupied vehicle stuck in a snow drift at a business located in Jefferson Township. Through the investigation, Carol Witting, age 49, Montpelier, Ohio was cited for Driving Under Suspension. The matter remains under investigation.
(Mar. 20) Rebecca McMillen, 49, Pioneer, was arrested for OVI and marked lanes violation following a traffic stop. She was released to family.
FULTON COUNTY
SHERIFF
Sheriff Roy. E. Miller announces that the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a High Visibility Blitz which started on March 1, 2014 and ended March 13, 2014. Deputies who worked this Blitz made 27 traffic stops and issued 7 citations. The citations were issued for speed (2), stop sign, registration violation, turn signal violation, driving left of center and an OVI. Deputies also issued 21 warnings to motorists. The High Visibility Blitz is paid from a grant that the Sheriff’s Office has received from the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Sheriff Miller and his deputies are dedicated to protecting the citizens of Fulton County and the motorists who travel its highways. This grant allows extra patrol to enforce traffic laws that will increase the safety of motorists on roadways in the areas that are prone to a higher number of serious and fatal crashes.
