The cafeteria in Fayette High School served as host to a just and wonderful cause on the afternoon of Friday, February 13.

A potato dinner was held in the facility, with patrons only needing to make a free will donation in order to eat. Those who took part in the fundraiser were treated to baked potatoes, with toppings such as cheese available to cover it, an assortment of cookies, and Gatorade as a beverage.

At the start of the event, which began at 4:30 P.M., traffic was slow to flow through the cafeteria. Due to some clever planning, however, attendance was boosted as basketball fans entered the school with the intent of watching their Fayette Eagle boys take on the Hilltop Cadets on the former’s senior night.

By 5:00 P.M., all of the tables set up for the event were teeming with locals, and many more were waiting in line to receive their potato dinner. A significant chunk of the Fayette population shared a meal together, as the echos of casual conversation bounced off the walls of the cafeteria.

Proceeds for the event will be donated to the Relay For Life’s Fulton County chapter.
