Stryker – A focus on Community Employment and Integration were among the priorities discussed during the Annual Planning Session held at Quadco Rehabilitation Center’s regular monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon.
“We remain focused on assisting individuals to integrate into their communities and achieve their goals”, said Quadco Executive Director, Bruce Abell. Abell told the members of Quadco’s Board of Directors that an important part of the organization’s plan is to offer a responsive employment program that helps people secure the type of employment that they are seeking. “We’ve always done that and will continue to expand the opportunities for community employment and activities as well as assisting the individual’s planning team to identify obstacles preventing integration.”
On the topic of integration, Abell shared with the Board Members that Quadco participated in the Henry County Board of DD’s, Hope Services Soup Challenge and won 1st place in the People’s Choice Category for the second year in a row. The soup was prepared and served by participants and staff from the Stryker facility’s Food Service program. The soup entered this year was Chicken Cordon Bleu.
Abell also discussed with the Members the need to actively recruit additional Board Members. Abell asked the Members to discuss the need with residents of their communities to promote interest in joining the volunteer Non-Profit Board.
The Board also heard the annual independent audit report presented by Jim Rensi, CPA of Luderman & Konst Inc., Defiance, Ohio. Rensi informed the Board that the “financial condition of the organization is stable and improved from the previous year.” Rensi went on to state that the audit findings resulted in a “clean opinion”.
Quadco’s Employment Services Manager, Rachel Lange, told the Board Members that Northwest Employment Services is currently serving 38 individuals in job placement services. Individuals receive services ranging from job search/development and coaching to follow along/retention. Lange told the Board that a program participant was recently hired at Sauder Woodworking in Archbold. Lange also shared with the Board that a group of individuals will be attending a local job fair in April.
The next regular meeting of the Non-Profit Board will be April 25, 2017 in the Stryker facility conference room.
