Ramona Steffel (1951 – 2024)

 (Bryan Resident; Lifelong Teacher)

Ramona Jayne Steffel, age 72, of Bryan, passed away on January 15, 2024 at the Parkview Bryan Hospital.

She spent her life as a teacher. Jayne was born on February 20, 1951, in Adrian, Michigan, to Wilford and Doris (Dunbar) Ingall.

On August 7, 1976, Jayne married the love of her life, James “Jim” Steffel, and he survives. Jayne obtained her Master’s of Early Childhood Education Degree from Siena Heights University. Jayne touched the lives of many children through her many outreach programs in which she belonged.

She was a 4-H Advisor for 50 years, a Sunday School teacher at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bryan for over 20 years, a Girl Scout advisor for 16 years, and was an advisor for Buckeye Girl State for 20 years. She was an avid postcard collector and loved cardinals.

Surviving Jayne is her husband, Jim; daughter, Jody (Billy) Garris of Holgate; daughter, Joanna Steffel of Bryan; grandchildren, Victoria Long and Alexia Long; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte Long, Braedyn Roddy, and Autumn May.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Annette Gleason and Margie Ingall.

Visitation for Jayne will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker from 1pm to 6pm. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, at 11am, with Rev. Andrew Wellman officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Williams Co. Sharpshooter 4-H Club.
