Richard D. “Dick” Vollmer, 76 years, of Palmetto, Florida and formerly of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Florida.  Dick was born October 7, 1939 in Farmer, Ohio, the son of the late Martin and Ada (Ruhl) Vollmer.  He married Sandra Skinner Gray on August 21, 1982, and she survives.  Dick worked in construction his entire life, retiring from Fort Defiance Construction in 2004.  He was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233 and the Bryan Moose Lodge 1064.

In addition to his wife Sandra, Dick is survived by three children, Vickie Finch of Angola, Indiana, Melanie (Ed) Nickerson of Grawn, Michigan and Steve (Lisa) Vollmer of West Unity, Ohio; two stepchildren, Correna Howard of Ellenton, Florida and Joe (Jamie) Kindell of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sam (Tracey) Butler, Kyle Butler, Miranda Vollmer and Mallorie (Chris) Hannon; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Briley Hannon; one brother, Donald (Pam) Vollmer of Bryan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepson, Carry Fair.

Visitation for Richard D. “Dick” Vollmer will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.  Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bryan with Pastor David Nicholls officiating.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
